PM guidance has been collected over a few decades, and lots of it is good stuff, BUT people then demand that others demonstrate they know this good stuff and that leads to exams. Exams (recruitment filters on “have you got the magic initials”) and examiners are doing us all a huge DISSERVICE because we force almost every PM wanna be to answer exam questions with anally-retentive focus on trivia, we force people to learn “the book” even where its wrong ( pick you exam and I’m happy to show where the book is wrong).
To pass the exam requires people faithful spout bad practice.
Training is so geared to the “not more than a week out” and the books (P2 & PMBoK Guide) are so big that training is never about doing the job, its just about collecting the tin star shiny badge
